How Does Your Garden Grow

I figured out what had happened to my tomatoes upon closer inspection. This weird serpent-like fellow has been having a feast.

Not without repercussions, as luck would have it. It appears--after further research--that he is on his way to meet his maker. Those white thingeys on him are actually wasp larvae and are feeding on him from the inside out. How gross! Read more here.

Cucumbers are looking very strange these days.

Not much good for most things, so JB has become a bit more creative.

Ack! Those larvae would probably make good fish bait. Don't know what else they would be good for, except maybe stomping.

Poor caterpillar :-(

Do you have a second cuke, to make a pair?

That bug thing is the weirdest thing I've seen in a while.

Damn, I wish our insects had those kinds of problems. I'm overrun with crickets and slugs. In college I was involved in a agricultural study regarding insecticide free corridors in soybeans to encourage natural prey on bean beatles and other soybean pests. Wasps were the big predator. What do you do with all your vegetables? Like the earing.
