Have Fun With Your Turkey

1. Cut out aluminum foil in desired shapes.

2. Arrange the turkey in the roasting pan, position the foil carefully. (see attached picture for details)

3. Roast according to your own recipe and serve.

I gave up my post as Thanksgiving cook when I married JB. With the out-laws a mile up the road, we usually celebrate with them. I just bring a side dish or dessert.

For the past couple of years, JB has been cooking the turkey in his great big ole stainless steel turkey cooker.

It's the only time--in my entire life--I have heard anyone say, on Thanksgiving, "Is there any more turkey?"

I have done my share of roasting the bird the conventional way. All that cooking and planning and setting that beautiful table--and it's over in 20 minutes.

And we all know, it's just a dry run for Christmas.

Hoo-wee, does he really do that to the turkey?

This year, since we're near family, we're letting them do most of the cooking (heck, they wanted to, since we're vegetarian, and they just couldn't imagine no turkey). We'll bring a few things, and just enjoy the afternoon.

The girls made me promise to make pumpkin pie for us, though. There was the fiasco year when we invited my father-in-law and his second family. His wife wanted to know what to bring. "Don't worry," we said, "we have everything under control, just bring yourself and your appetite." She insisted. And insisted. So, we said, sure, bring a pie. She said she'd bring a pumpkin pie.

They arrived with a Baker's Square pumpkin pie.

Yuck! I'd've rather had them come with nothing than with a store-bought monstrosity. (I shouldn't have been surprised, though. When we went ot their house for Thanksgiving, the main vegetable was green beans. *Microwaved* green beans. With no seasonings at all.)

I love this. Last time my family came up i did a cuban turkey theme with plantain dressing. They are begging me to do traditional but that is sooo hard for me to do. This is perfect, they can still get that traditional taste! This is great!

You realise there are beaches in Spain full of Brits that 100% resemble that Turkey?
