I cringe at the idea of it. We were recently on one of our main highways and a truck passed us with the head of a fresh moose. I nearly threw up. And wept.

It's a tricky one. As a meat eater, I feel I can't be disapproving of hunting that concludes with any kills being eaten but hunting for trophies feels abhorrent (like fox hunting, now banned in the UK)

I'd understand it a lot better if the "hunters" were culling the herds correctly (old and weak rather than the biggest and the strongest).
Our forest preserve people are supposed to be in charge of culling our overwhelming herds here. I'm not sure how well they're doing at it.
It is hard to get your head around hunting, isn't it? And yet I have no problem with steak ....
