My baby girl called yesterday to tell me that she is engaged.
And I did not mention grandchildren to her at all--until this morning when she phoned. I assured her that I had faith in the decisions she and her fiance would make for their future... and I encouraged her to let those decisions be a reflection of what would work best for the two of them.
I'm sounding a bit like all the old farts that immediately ask "So when are you going to have children?"
But it's not like that at all. I am just absolutely thrilled that my odds for ever having grandchildren have just gotten better.

congratulations to her and to her fiance!
and to you!
Congratulations, Mother-of-the-Bride!
Mother-in-law-to-be.
Dare I suggest: Future-Grandma?!
comgratulations to you and yours! How cool is that?!
Congrats all around!
At my wedding -- when I had been married all of 20 minutes -- someone asked me when we would be having children. I looked the old bat straight in the eye and said, "Well, it would help if we consummated the marriage first." She never asked that question again.
BTW, I was in your neck of the woods again. We dropped the girls off at their grandmother's house and then we hiked Peaks of Otter. Why yes, I do hurt like hell.
Congratulations to everyone! What a wonderful Christmas present!
When Impera was barely four months old, my father, who was never particularly baby-crazy (and there had been familial stress during the pregnancy, as well, for the stupidest of reasons) kept asking and asking when we'd be having the next. I just couldn't understand it. Until a family friend pointed out that he was hoping for a boy grandchild.
Be very very careful.
That's all I'm saying.
Great news! Congrats!
What a cute couple. Your daughter is very pretty. They look so young. Good luck to them! Happy New Year!
