There Is A Season


How often does an amaryllis bloom in summer?

I always thought they were seasonal--winter and around Christmas. But while I was playing mother hen in Texas, JB emailed me this picture of his gardening talents.

I think they were originally meant for warmer weather, possibly in a tropical area?

I agree with jennifer: I think we consider them early plants because of the "forcing" people do.

(Of course, we have two Christmas cactuses that have diverged: one is a Thanksgiving cactus and the other is an Easter cactus.)
